Mark 4:40 – But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Fear is the opposite of faith. And we as Christians, are called to have faith. We should not be fearful.
Romans 8:15 – For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Easier said than done? Probably. Unless you know how.
We are human. Our nature is to worry. Our nature is not to trust God unconditionally. That takes a conscious decision and a lot of follow up work.
To stand in faith means to shut your mouth and swallow every negative confession that comes into your mind. To stand in faith means to cling to God when everything in you wants to give up. To stand in faith means to be as stubborn as can be, choosing to belief the Word, rather than the lies of the world.
To stand in faith is hard work. It is a daily job. It never ends. If you overcome fear today, you can bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, fear will be waiting for you to wake up so that it can crowd your mind. Faith is to fill your mind with the Word of God so that you can drive out every ounce of fear, every minute of every day. Faith is to meditate on scripture so that you have the means with which to draw the Sword of the Word against the monster of fear.
Start today. Meditate on one verse a day. And when fear comes, pull out the Sword of the Word and resist it. Don’t ever verbalise fear. Instead, regardless of what you feel, verbalise faith. You will see that the more you do this, the easier it becomes. In the beginning it is very hard work. It gets easier, but it never ends. Our enemy will never stop harassing us with thoughts of fear. When the thought comes, subject it to the Word of God.
There are so many promises in the Word – pick one and start meditating on it still today. Kill the fear. Live in faith.
