#100awesomedays no.23 – Your Barn

Your Barn is coming along nicely. A lot of work must still be done, but our dream is realising right before our eyes. The official opening of Your Barn is early in July.

Looking at the barn today, I suddenly thought of this verse:
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, your vats will brim over with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9, 10 NIV)

Why is it so difficult for people to give to their local church? There are a number of scriptures in the Bible that instruct us to give to the church, yet this is the one issue no preacher dare preach about. People get so offended! We want God’s blessing, providence, healing and all the other promises, but we don’t want to part with our money. Why? We are willing to believe all the other verses in the Bible, but not those that instruct us to give. How sad.

Search your heart. Be like David and ask God to search your heart. If you love money more than you love God, you have an idol in your life. If you would rather hoard you cash than be obedient to God’s Word, you are serving Mamon, not God.

If you want your barn to overflow, you have to give first…
