#100awesomedays no.13 – He is my Shepherd

This morning I sat with a variety of merino wool blends in front of me, planning a heritage blanket I want to make. I am so excited about this project! I caught myself a number of times today just staring at the yarns or feelings the yarns. There is something about pure merino wool that words cannot describe.

This evening I told my husband to smell one of the hanks; it has a sheepy smell to it. It has not been coloured, it is pure merino. Still pondering the yarns, I suddenly thought of my own status as a little sheep in the flock of my Father. What a comforting thought! I remembered this explanation of the well known Psalm 23 and I want to share it with you.

The Lord is my Shepherd — That’s RELATIONSHIP!

I shall not want — That’s SUPPLY!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures — That’s REST!

He leadeth me beside still waters — That’s REFRESHMENT!

He restoreth my soul — That’s HEALING!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness — That’s GUIDANCE!

For His name sake — That’s PURPOSE!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil — That’s PROTECTION!

For thou art with me — That’s FAITHFULNESS!

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me — That’s COMFORT!

Thou preparest a table before me In the presence of mine enemies —
That’s HOPE!

Thou anointest my head with oil —

My cup runneth over — That’s ABUNDANCE!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life —

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord — That’s SECURITY!

Forever — That’s ETERNITY!
