If you are still battling with the concept of being a new creation, then today’s verse is going to knock your shoes off.
But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. [Isa. 40:13.] (1 Corinthians 2:16 AMP)
Wow! You are not just a new creation! You have the mind of Christ! This verse is overwhelming. I have been meditating on it for weeks now and it still overwhelms me. To fully grasp the implication of this verse will take some time. Write this verse on a piece of paper and keep it handy. Read it often. Think about it constantly. It is going to change your life.
Let me give you a taste…. Why should you live in fear and anxiety if you have the mind of Christ? Why should depression rule your life when you have the mind of Christ? Why should you be overcome by problems for which you have no answers when you have the mind of Christ?
The mind of Christ is available to you. You can choose to accept it in faith, or you can choose to ignore it. You can choose to renew your mind or to carry on as is. That is why Paul writes:
Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Romans 12:2 AMP)
You can make a conscious decision today to renew your mind and in doing so, your entire life will change for the better. It’s there, already available to you. Or you can choose to just plod along.
What do you want? The mind of Christ? Then choose to renew your mind.
