What do you think of first when you hear or read the name of King David? Most children immediately think of David and Goliath. Most women think of David the worshipper with his harp or lyre in hand. Most men think of David the warrior. If you read through the old testament, you will realise that David, despite being the king of Israel, did not have an easy life. His wife gave him grief. His son turned on him. His father-in-law wanted to kill him. He was betrayed more than once. He had to hide more than once. He was forever fighting, so much so that God did no permit him to build the temple – he had too much blood on his hands. Yet he came through as ‘a man after God’s own heart’. Why?
Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
David wasn’t moved by what he saw. David knew about faith long before the book of Hebrews was written. David knew the power of worship regardless of circumstances.
