God’s plans for you are good, BUT…

Standard

Jer 29:11 is one of my favourite scriptures in the Word. It is a well known verse often used to encourage people who experience hardship of some sort. Yesterday however, I looked at this verse from a different angle.

God’s plans for you are good yes. He wants to give you hope. He wants to give you a brilliant future. He wants to bless you in every aspect of your life. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention anything to the contrary. GOD IS GOOD AND HE WANTS TO BLESS YOU.

But… Yes there is a BUT….

What are YOU doing about it?

You are the one that have to make the decisions. God will not make it on your behalf. If you ask for wisdom and direction, He will give that too. But if you stubbornly persist in the Frank Sinatra way (I did it MY way), you will probably end up in a hard place somewhere wondering why life is so tough. If you invest in a deep and intimate relationship with God, you will find it easy to avoid sin and you will be blessed. But if you stubbornly persist in sin, you will miss the blessing. If you choose to live the life of the righteous, you will inherit ALL the promises God made to the righteous. If you choose to be lukewarm, living the double life of going to church in Sundays and being an absolute menace all the other days, you will have nothing but problems. Yes there is grace and mercy, but your life will have hard. All the spiritual laws will still apply, regardless of grace and mercy.

If you choose to invest time in your relationship with God, you will grow spiritually and you will be blessed.
If you choose to invest time in your secret sin, life will just become harder and harder.

So what are YOU doing about the promises of God?
