Are you fighting fit?

Standard

Being a Christian is by no means easy.  We are involved in a constant spiritual battle.  It’s a battle for our minds, our hearts, our words, our actions.  The devil is constantly trying to win back lost ground inside of us.  The battle did not end the day we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour!  Dare I say that it actually really started that day?

Paul was well aware of this battle. Romans 7: 19 – For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will  not to do, that I practice.

We are constantly fighting to overcome sin.  We are constantly tempted to fall back into sin.  Every single moment of every single day, we have to choose between sin and righteousness.  We have to choose between losing our temper and self-control.  We have to choose between normal language and foul language.  We have to choose between road rage and patience.  We have to choose whether we are going to listen to the gossip or whether we are going to walk away.  We have to choose whether we are going to get all rebellious towards our leadership or whether we are going to submit.  We have to choose between a lie and the truth.  And so the list goes on and on and on.

The battle is far from over.  We have to be fighting fit, daily.

We cannot fight this battle on our own.  We need Jesus to fight it with us.  We need a daily fill of spiritual strength to withstand the onslaught again us.  You cannot fight this battle if you only seek the Lord on a Sunday.  You cannot fight this battle without having a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus.  You cannot fight this battle if you don’t know the Word of God.

What do you look like in the spiritual realm today? Have you got your armour on?  Are you fighting fit?
