Have you ever noticed that in a room full of people, all talking at the same time, you will immediately recognise the voice of your spouse or your child? Isn’t it amazing? In between all those other voices, your ears will pick out the voice of the one you love, the one you have a relationship with.
Short blog today with a big question and a lot of food for thought.
Does God speak to you?
In John 10, Jesus compares us to sheep and Himself to a shepherd. He makes a bold statement that His sheep KNOWS HIS VOICE.
If you do not know the voice of the Lord, or if the Lord has not spoken to you in a long time, you are not close enough to Him. And it’s not because He moved away from you. it’s because you moved away from Him.
“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. (John 10:1-6 NIV)
