Day 5: Merely a traveller

Standard

I have an old chorus on my heart today.

This world is not my home, I’m just passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

We are merely travelers.  We are only passing through this world and what we will take with are the stuff in our hearts.   Tangible things won’t go with.

Imagine what we would feel like if we could feel the weight of the issues we carry in our hearts.  Issues we should have dealt with.  Issues we should have left behind.  But we drag them with us on our journey to heaven.  I think some of us will be so weighed down by the time we get there, we will either be crawling in or we won’t make it at all.

It’s Friday.  What happened in this week should be left behind in this week.  Think for a while what you still have to sort out and do it right away.  Let us exit this week free from old issues.  The Bible says we shouldn’t go to bed angry, so actually, we should leave each day’s issues behind when we end that day.  Our stress levels will drop tremendously if we can learn to let go at the end of each day.   Let go of the anger.  Let go of the resentment.  Just breathe deeply and give it to God.  It’s over.  The week is done.  Leave it behind.  All of it.

Start traveling light.
