Beware of the lion

Oh we are such a self-righteous bunch.  I’ve seen it again this week.  A person falls and others gossip and say ‘I would never have done that’.  ‘I am so glad I wasn’t that stupid’.  ‘That would never happen to me’.  Really?

The Bible warns us in 1 Peter 5: “Be alert and of sober mind.   Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

If you are thinking you are above the temptation of sin, you might in fact be very close to falling.  In that proud state of mind, you are a prime target for that roaring lion.  Be careful.

What we have every day is just grace from God.  If you haven’t fallen, be thankful.  Pray each morning that God will protect you for that day.  And pray for those who were not so fortunate.  Don’t ever become proud and think you can resist sin all on your own.  You might be the next one people will gossip about.
